Vacation 2010 - Day Two - Fairbanks

Today we slept in as best we could with a 3 hour timezone change from Dallas. Today is a free day with no cruise activities. We meet the Mimi's and took the shuttle into downtown Fairbanks. We wondered around town most of the afternoon.

We saw some sled dogs, played putt-putt (Derek and I), ate a snack at the "Fudge Pot". The area is beautiful. Crisp air, very very green. Temp in the 60's. Our bus driver says the average temperature in winter is -40 F and when the Sun does set it says down from September to February. All the parking lots downtown had plug in poles for parked cars to plug in engine heaters. This keeps cars from freezing up in the cold.

Derek and I got 5 Geocaches in Downtown and near our hotel. Enjoyed a mile walk in the area behind the hotel and along the river.
