Off we go. North to Alaska. Due to flying reward miles, it took us 20 hours to get there with a 6 hr layover in Seattle.
7:00 cdt - off to airport
10:10 cdt - Fly from DFW to Orange County (3hrs)
12:0o pdt - Fly from Orange County to Seattle (3 hrs)
9:00pm pdt - Fly from Seattle to Fairbanks (4 hrs).
11:45pm AKdt - Land in Fairbanks
Our flights went very well. No delays, no missing bags.
Fairbanks is so far North that in June it never gets dark. The Sun barely goes below the horizon for 2 hours then comes backup. On June 21, they have a Midnight Sun Festival that goes from Noon to Midnight with parades, concerts. It ends with a Midnight pitch baseball game.
It was really strange to walk off the plane at almost midnight and see the Sun low on the horizon. A unique experience for sure.
